鹦鹉热主要是有养鹦鹉所致，因此，养鸟者要注意以下几点：

去正规的宠物店购买宠物鸟，不收养来历不明的宠物鸟；

每天清洗鸟笼、食盘、水碗及沾有禽鸟排泄物或分泌物的物件；

在清理鸟笼或被鸟粪污染的表面之前，先用水或消毒液湿润表面，避免吸入扬起的粉尘；

接触鸟类或粪便后，要用流动的清水和肥皂彻底洗手；
