In some cases, other metabolites of nicotine, such as nicotine-1-oxynitride, trans-3-hydroxycotinine, nornicotine, or other tobacco chemicals, such as quinoline in urine, can also be detected. The detection of nicotine and cotinine is also used when nicotine poisoning is suspected. Acute nicotine overdoses, such as children's ingestion of nicotine tablets or chewing gum, are relatively rare but require urgent medical treatment. Its symptoms include burning sensation, nausea, abdominal pain, salivation, diarrhea, sweating, confusion, dizziness, excitement, increased heart rate, shortness of breath or difficulty, epilepsy, coma and even death.

This product uses competitive inhibition method and colloidal gold immunochromatography principle to detect nicotine in urine qualitatively. The gold labeled nicotine single clone antibody is used as indicator marker, and the detection line and control line on nitrocellulose membrane are coated with nicotine BSA conjugate and Sheep anti mouse IgG polyclonal antibody respectively. During the detection, the urine samples were chromatographed under the capillary effect. For example, when the concentration of nicotine in urine is lower than 200ng / ml, the gold standard antibody cannot all combine with nicotine. During the chromatography process, the unbound gold standard antibody combines with the nicotine BSA conjugate fixed on the detection line, so a purple red band appears in the detection area (T); if the concentration of nicotine in urine is higher than 200ng / ml, the gold standard antibody all combines with nicotine, so that it is in the detection. Because the competitive reaction will not combine with nicotine BSA, there is no purplish red band. No matter whether there is nicotine in the urine sample or not, there will be a purple red band in the control area (c). The purplish red band in the control region (c) is the standard to judge whether there is enough urine sample and whether the chromatography process is normal, and it is also the internal control standard of the reagent.
